Lots of potential in those images Morris. The new Dehaze tool can work wonders on images like this. Or not. ! I have tried it on a number of images. Sometimes magic, other times not so much. Still haven't figured out why. I just have to try it image by image for now I guess.
Thank you Steve,
It's also the first revision and they have a history of improving the tools over time

Both of these are outstanding. I like the B&W most but they both work well. What I like is the canyon seems so well composed and the raven is just in the right place to add that living element.
Thank you Gordon,
When I saw the raven I composed and waited for it to go where I wanted and/or felt it looked good.

I like the color one for the geographic layers are more visible in it.
Thank you Herb,
I agree I was able to bring the layers out better in the color version. There were a lot of attempts for both images.

I like the color one as it show more depth, Morris.
I used the Dehaze filter once and I have played with it a bit. not having any pics with haze I used for dirty glass . What I noticed is that it has the tendency to over-saturate the image and it requires further adjustment in CR (being a CR filter) to get it right, but it does a very good job. Do your normal PP in CR first and then use the Dehaze filter and do some more adjustments as required.
Here is an example: the bottom one is the final edit, not just Dehaze. I'll take it down once you have seen it.

P.S. Have you tried Unsharp Mask with high amount and radius to get rid of the haze?...Show more →
Thank you Socrate,
I'm going to give it a try when I get a chance. I'm busy catching up after being away for 3 weeks.
