A theme manager would really help a lot. The overly white flat UI is just pretty ugly to me. A full fledged dark mode would be so nice to have. Yosemite for me was riddled with graphic glitches on a 2013 Mac Pro (D700). It had bugs and crashes with time machine that drove me crazy. Backups are critical for me. The UI was slow and laggy as well. Opening folders stuttered a lot. It was a mess. Mavericks on the same machine has no issues.
I'm waiting for El Capitan with hopefully a more stable release. Sadly, it looks like flavors 2 has been preempted by Apple with the security lockdown on apps....Show more →
Funny that you mention El Capitan. Yes, it's a rock in Yosemite, but it was also a premier all coach train the Santa Fe used to run between Chicago and LA. So it's just a matter of which train you want to ride
As for the security lockdown - yes it is in the beta code of 10.11, but there is a documented way to work around it. I strongly resent (I've sent ignored "suggestions" to Apple about killing 3rd party solutions) software that has to go thru the AppStore.) El Cap will have an interface much like Yosemite. If you - or anyone - wants to know about some of the 3rd party apps and hacks to get color and texture back in the interface, let me know. I acknowledge many don't mind the change, but one of the fundamental principles of good UI design is that the consistent use of color codes - provides additional clues to the user. I'm afraid with Jobs gone Ivey's vandals have over run the long standing Apple UI standards. (It's still significantly better than the Win10 mess I've seen in beta, though I must acknowledge that MS has made real strides of late since their Vista fiasco.)
Life goes on even if we don't like all of it.
