Having looked up Cape Kiwanda, I've pretty much decided that's where I want to be. High tide hits at sunset, the weather report looks good. So tomorrow night that's where I am. Anyone feel like meeting up? Shoot me a message and we can exchange numbers. Thanks again everyone for the advice!
The following is too late for you now, but high tide is not the best time if you want to get to the sea cave. That is definitely a very low tide affair with a limited window of opportunity. You need to get here

No there is no mistake in the marker placement. You climb up the dune, walk along the crest for a bit, then break left and find your way down to here
https://www.google.com/maps/place/45%C2%B013%2716.2%22N+123%C2%B058%2732.0%22W/@45.2211556,-123.9755444,256m/data=!3m2!1e3!4b1!4m2!3m1!1s0x0:0x0
then down to the water, walk on the left side along the water's edge, then a minor climb over a ridge. Be very careful when you are down there and don't loose track of time or the water conditions. When the tide rises you WILL be cut off and most likely you WILL drown. This is not an exaggeration, the walls are very steep and sandy, it may be possible to find refuge at a high point but at minimum you will freeze your ass off and spend some very frightening and uncomfortable 12-24 hrs there.
This particular location works best in December, when the sun sets along the sea cave. It will be a (mostly) copycat composition from Marc Adamus, the angles are tight and the opportunities for a unique take are somewhat limited

When I lived in PDX I went to Cape Kiwanda all the time, my personal favorite area is around here
https://www.google.com/maps/place/45%C2%B013%2717.2%22N+123%C2%B058%2732.0%22W/@45.2214361,-123.97555,256m/data=!3m2!1e3!4b1!4m2!3m1!1s0x0:0x0
One of the possible comps there is
http://www.lghtbx.com/u/biboyanov/0BxMbtrAZYEMofnFKaGlpSWhyZ0Y4aXZNbUVQcDZvTzJjRHZvd2ZZdVM2TFQxVk0zRFJ3UWM/0BxMbtrAZYEMoNVBZeTY0c2tMc28
though there are many others. Another good area is here
https://www.google.com/maps/place/45%C2%B013%2705.2%22N+123%C2%B058%2743.3%22W/@45.2181056,-123.9786917,992m/data=!3m2!1e3!4b1!4m2!3m1!1s0x0:0x0
but the whole coast between these two points is rich with possibilities. I shot this area at least a dozen times over the years and I never felt like I had to do much repetition (though I wish that at the time I knew more about how to gauge weather conditions and avoid the marine layer rather than show up and hope).
