you really don't want to skip the discrete video card. you then will need the memory since it is shared with the system which is slower memory to start. and it increases the system load.

The impact isn't that serious - i've been using the onboard GPU for the last 3 years or so and it was fine. I only bought a discrete GFX card to play with the CT software at home in the evenings.

the results vary by what you are doing if you don't use the tool you don't really know. for the tools i use it and there is a difference. turning it off in my notebook can add as much as 10 to 15% in a process that makes use of it these days.

Hardly any parts of PS take advantage of a discrete GPU. LR doesn't use it at all. I'd stick with a fast CPU and skip the GPU.

in addition there are other related programs that also use it
