Looking at the image, I wouldn't call that a crane. Large, yes. Crane, no. I believe that it is a walking dragline, which is very different from a crane. Would the image below be more like what you saw? I do like the gritty texture to the image since draglines are used in the mining industry and are typically dirty. Thanks for posting it.

my 'cranes' are used in the bay area to lift big containers both on to and off ships.
the folks that use them call them 'cranes'. what do I know?

Okay, I know about the cranes you are referring to, so you are right, I am wrong. Seeing the portion of the crane made me think that it was a walking dragline. I have seen both and both are large and tall. Either way, I like the grittiness of your image. To me, it add more visual interest to the subject.
