Here are some shots with the Tamron 70-200mm 2.8
Those shots look good. Keep in mind, a faster shutter is needed with no IS or VC. Shooting wide open allows slower shutter speeds, but possibly at the cost of AF accuracy due to thinner DOF. I've experienced similar situations, once or twice, with my 300/4L non-IS. Often I find myself using a shutter of 1/1200 or faster with that lens. A shutter speed 3-4x the focal length should work great for you when handholding. In good light, try stopping down to f4, or even 5.6/6.3. Hopefully AF accuracy will be better. Don't be afraid to turn up ISO to compensate. I'd rather have a slightly grainy shot, than a blurry OOF shot.

Is this the newer or older Tamron 70-200?? I bought the new one Tamron SP 70-200mm f/2.8 Di VC to use on my 6D after selling my Canon 70-200mm II. But focus was very inconsistent. I would say 3 or 4 out of 10 were out of focus. Either front focus or back focus. So I ended up returning it and bought another Canon. It's a beautiful lens in black and when it locks focus it's tack sharp, but the focus killed it for me. If Tamron could come out with a 70-200mm that would be spot on I would buy one. Another thing to consider is focus breathing. The Canon seems it has more reach at 200mm than the Tamron. ...Show more →
Nope. This is about the older, non-VC version, the exact model name in the thread title. One review stated that it missed focus 10-15% of the time. Which really isnt that bad. This would mean 1-2 missed shots out of 10, or 10-15 out of 100. I dont consider this horrible.
Strangely, I hear more complaints about front/ back focus issues with Sigma lenses than Tamron.
