Hands down the Epson 3880. Simply stated, hassle free operation, it just works. I can go months without printing, turn it on, load paper, and print high quality images.

I gotta agree with Whaler.
The Epson 3880 rocks! I do a ton of 17x22 and 16x20 prints and the results are just as good as the top pro photo labs. I print from LR6 and the Epson 3880 just works with no hassles.

The Epson 3880 is certainly a wonderful printer. However, if you don't need 17" print, at least on a regular basis, the Canon Pro 100 could be a very inexpensive option for up to 13" prints.

While there's no doubt the 3880 is a better printer, it also costs about $1000. You can often get the Canon Pro 100 for $100 or less after rebate (I got mine for free AR as a lens+printer+paper bundle). I bought refill inks from Precision Colors and the quality has been excellent. I can't claim that the refill ink will last as long but there's no difference in quality that I can tell. I also bought an ink cartridge resetter to reset the ink level monitoring chips every time I refilled. This lets the software monitor ink levels and avoid accidental damages to the print head (because it tries to keep printing while there's no more ink). For a total of about $100 (printer, paper, chip resetter, refill ink and accessories), I've been making my own prints for more than a year and I think I still have enough refill ink for another year.

3880 is a fine printer. The newer P600 is also a great choice, especially if your needs are met by the 13" carriage width.

I use the Pixma Pro 100 as well and have been very satisfied. In fact it has exceeded my expectations by a good margin.

Any opinions on the Canon Pixma MG7120?

Also, what papers do you guys use for photo printing?

I agree with gdanmitchell;

Papers are very personal, so definitely get a few sample packs of the good papers and see what you like. For my own taste, my go to papers are Canson Rag Photographique (matte), Hahnemuhle Fine art pearl and Canson Platine Fibre Rag. I also like Red River San Gabriel baryta.

I had a Canon i9900 for 10 years and replaced it with a Pro-100 last year.

The i9900 I broke a switch in the door.. it made changing cartridges a little exciting. I fixed it once.. my dad has the printer now and is still super happy with it.

The Pro-100 has been great.. I've put about 1000 4x6s through it in a year and a bunch of bigger prints. Love the network capabilities as we print from more than one machine.

Both of these never had any clogs/jams/bad prints, etc.. in my time with them. Super happy with the reliability.

Love the Pro 100. I love epson printers too, I still have an old 7600 24" printer, but they do clog a lot! I gave up on the newer epsons because every one I owned clogged beyond repair within a year. If you use is a lot, it may not be a problem, but mine always clogged and used a ton of ink to unclog it.
