Thanks Guys! This guy was right next to the road. I just pulled my truck over and gradually walked closer to the moose. The first shot was taken as I hid behind a telephone pole for protection. The moose was so busy eating, he quickly determined I was non threatening. I took out the longest lens I had with me, an old manual focus 105mm and basically walked next to the road for about half a mile with the moose as he ate. Eventually, he wandered off into the woods. It's one of those days I was kicking myself for not having my 70-200 or 400mm with me. Wasn't planning on seeing anything, and was just traveling to work on my Dad's cabin.
I never saw the moose give any threatening poses or signals that he was disturbed by my presence, so, I just walked with him. The hardest part was finding backgrounds that didn't include houses or electrical boxes, etc. All in all, was a fun experience for me. As I walked back to my truck, there were cars all littering the side of the highway with tourists and their iphones. Wouldn't be surprised if I'm on a bunch of FB pages of people I'll never know.
