p.1 #1 · p.1 #1 · Canon Rebate Question

I feel like this is a pretty simple question but I just couldn't find the answer for my exact scenario.

If I buy a lens THROUGH amazon.com FROM Adorama, will I still be eligible for the rebate? I know amazon is a canon authorized dealer and Adorama is an canon authorized dealer...but is the Amazon Adorama seller an authorized canon dealer?

I ask because I have a gift card at amazon right now that has been applied to my account. If I buy the lens(Canon 24-70 f4 IS) from the Amazon Adorama store, I don't have to pay tax like I would for just Amazon.

Thanks for any help.

I'm not sure why your payment method would have any impact on whether you're taxed or not. But to answer your question, yes -- you will still be eligible for the rebate.

Mmk thank you. I believe you are only taxed if the business has a facility in your state (there's an amazon facility in Richmond VA). Whether or not this is the correct reason, I am not sure. But there is definitely no VA sales tax for me when I put the lens into my cart from the adorama amazon store. There is if I put it in my cart direct from Amazon.

The Amazon Adorama Marketplace could not confirm that I would be eligible for the rebate. They advised me to ask canon before purchasing. I'll likely just buy used since my gift card is still good for used products as well.

Thanks Helen. I appreciate it but I just ended up buying the lens used.
