I thought I'd share a few more of my Patagonia images. We had beautiful weather and clear blue skies the whole time we were in El Chalten. Our friends who were there the week before hardly saw Fitz Roy at all. We camped two nights below Mt Fitzroy, and did two sunrise hikes to Laguna de Los Tres. The clear weather and relatively low wind made for some wonderful reflections.

Wonderful reflections indeed!
I'd try to darken the upper half of #2 though.

Thanks David!
(Replaced #2 with a darkened version - good suggestion )

I had similar conditions during my time at Fitz Roy - clear and frustratingly cloudless.

With #2 did you stretch the mountain upwards to restore some of the scale 'lost' with a wide angle? I don't mind this technique at all, but it looks as if you didn't scale the bottom half? The reflection looks very odd, with the stumpy short look in comparison to the more imposing peak in the top half of the frame. Apologies if this is just some sort of optical illusion caused by the position of the camera - but it just struck me as odd.

Frustratingly cloudless - haha! I know what you mean! As a backpacker... I loved the fact that we had clear cloudless skies. Wonderful change from hiking in the rain! But as a photographer... a few clouds would have been nice.

(I think it's just from having a wide-angle lens tilted down. Didn't so any different scaling.)

I envy you folks who get to Patagonia. What great landscapes there. I think I like the 2nd best. Sometimes really bright sun on mountains creates a washed out look. The second has nice contrast.

Morning #2 is the winner for me because the lighting creates the most visual separation between the distant peaks and the closer hills. Late morning #1 has some detail in the rocky foreground that I quite like as well.

Thank you Douglas! Morning #2 was a great day for sure. I've got one more to post from that morning.

Thank you Scott! You got me thinking - it might be fun to hang the vertical images next to each other.
