Great capture! Marvelous the way the light catches the spines, and the B&W is a perfect choice. A great find, Paul. A lot of technology tied up in the cactus. It provided food, medicine, dye for the early Indians. It is a treasure trove of benefits. And definitely an inspiration for sharp!!

It isn't exactly man's technology, but I am sure has inspired a security device or two.... and possibly airplane wing design. The needles protect, as even a child could guess, but they also slow movement of air on the surface reducing evaporation. The airplane connection? Not sure, but I did read it somewhere... Cool technology in my book, even if they only function to prick your finger.
