Some really burly folk, Bob! Don't think I want to mess with any of them.
Love the spirit of competition that you have so successfully captured.

Paul & Tom,
Thanks, appreciate your comments.
I'll elaborate some -
Yes, some powerful, ripped people and for the most part, very athletic since anyone can carry the ball in rugby. They pretty much run for two 40 minute halves so excessive weight, in and of itself without athleticism is somewhat a penalty. Blocking to assist the ball carrier is not permitted, so it is essentially 1 on 15 for the ball carrier.
Interesting in that during play, with F-bombs flying all over, they are highly competitive but they (at least in my 3 years of observation) leave it all on the pitch and gather at a 'pub' for a 'social' and camaraderie after each match. 'Social' days are well in my past - I go home Speaking to the 'Sir' is strictly prohibited (will earn you a yellow card) other than by team captains...there is no deviation from this rule. This applies to the sideline player benches and coaches as well.
One observation, the ladies are less inclined toward individual posturing and practice more team play (I would say the same applies for men vs women's soccer) - with no aversion to occasional F-bombs and tackles that draw an 'Oooooo' of approval from the crowd.
Glad you enjoyed the images,
Bob
