I was messing around with my new Profoto Silver Large Umbrella Deep and thought of this. D3, 35 1.4g, f/8, Elinchrom Quadra, both heads.

I wonder if you shot it at f/16 you could get a 'sun star' effect?

I was thinking that myself Mark. I shot it at f/8 to keep the flower sharp but I wanted to downplay the ribs of the umbrella. I'll try it though thank you.

I tried your idea Mark of going to f/16 to produce some stars. But since the umbrella ribs are fiberglass there really aren't any pinpoint specular highlights. I did use a flower that is more open, changed the glass and used an Elinchrom 21cm reflector on the flower. I think it's better overall.
