p.1 #1 · p.1 #1 · Canon EF-M 11-22mm STM, 18-55mm STM, 55-200mm STM, Sharpness, and Flare Resistance?

Anyone here know how well these three lenses resist flare? I'm thinking about getting these lenses for the new EOS M3. I mainly shoot landscape and travel photography at f/8 and f/11.

How sharp are these three lenses at f/8 and f/11? What about in terms of contrast?

I don't have the 55-200, but the 11-22 is much better than the 18-55 for quality/sharpness. I really haven't been concerned with flare, but I think it would be better concerned with that also. I would use the 11-22 or 22 f2 for quality images, but if I'd be wanting images that excel, I would be using some L zooms or primes on it with adapter for the other ranges. the 18-55 is a decent lens, but not excellent-where it excels is in compactness and convenience.

Agreed on the 11-22, 22/2, and 18-55. The 11-22 and 22/2 will surprise you!

I use the EF-M 11-22 professionally for certain small shots, it's that good. The EF-M 18-55 is much better than the EF-S version.

As with all lenses I use a hood and shield bright lights and rarely have an issue with flare

I have no intentions of getting the prime. It'll just be these three lenses if I decide to invest in the M system.

I didn't think it was necessary to mention that I'll be using the lens hood. I always use the lens hood. Surprisingly someone said these lenses will still flare even with the lens hood? Do any of these lenses uses Canon's spectra coating to minimize flare?

Any lens will flare under certain circumstances. If I have a light source just out of frame I will usually try and baffle it with my hand or a piece of card, that's just common sense.

Flare isn't an issue I have had particular issues with on the M

AFAIK yes they are coated

IMHO the biggest problem with EF-M lenses is the EOS M itself, the M3 hasn't really changed that. The lenses I have tried (22mm, 11-22mm, 3x 18-55mm) have all been either pretty good or very good.
