Most weekends during spring, summer and early fall, I photograph motocross racing for the organizer at 5 different tracks. This past weekend we were at a track called Thunder Mud. When it rains, it lives up to it's name.
Although it was overcast all day, the rain didn't develop until I had finished shooting, so I managed to stay dry.
Although my 70-200/2.8 II is my go-to lens for most of my MX shoots, this day I decided to shoot everything with the new 100-400 v.II on my 5D MkIII. The 100-400 isn't as quick to lock on AF as the 70-200 and shows some vignetting when shot wide open on a full frame body. I will return to using the 70-200 for most of my shoots, but the 100-400 is certainly an excellent backup lens.
Most weekends I shoot between 2,500 and 3,000 images. This weekend I only shot the one day and captured 1,500. Here are just a few that I hope you enjoy....
