p.1 #1 · p.1 #1 · PICS ADDED: Chino Airport Pre-show - Planes of Fame

I'm not much of an airshow shooter, but I do enjoy the rare opportunity I get. This was a short Friday evening "pre-show" at Chino Airport, and more specifically the Planes of Fame Museum. I was in an area in the approach line about a 1/4 mile from the end of the runway. There are some amazing aircraft shooters here so I have been very hesitant to post but what the heck!

All comments appreciated.

All are nicely done and the 3rd with the moon is pretty cool. Is that one a single exposure?

Thanks Tuan.

Yes, this is a single exposure. I've got a couple other frames and one in particular that's a bit closer to the moon that I like, but it's not as sharp as I'd like.

Is the one with the moon a two seater Sea Fury?
Beautiful shots especially like the F-86 silhouette shot.

hey mike - all great shots! shock diamonds from the exhaust of the f-22 is a great capture as well as the image of the p-51 (?) w/ the moon in the bg.

with the bg in the composition, it gives viewers better perspectives of the actions (imo).

Thanks for comments. I was really pleased with the Sabre shot as well.

And yes I do believe the moon shot is the Sea Fury. I don't have the other shots with me to get a better look to confirm, but that's what I remember.

Cheers

Tntcorp, that is definitely not a P-51. Trying to compare the image above to a Sea Fury doesn't tell me much either except that the Sea Fury has a 4 blade prop and the one above has a 5 blade prop. I am sure it is a British aircraft because of the bulls eye emblem on the side. Other than that, I have no idea.

Post them on the Mustangs, Air to Air thread and ask for an ID there. You may get an answer. At the very least, those of us who frequent the Mustangs thread will enjoy them.

Regards, Colin

Thanks Colin. I have more shots of this aircraft and will be able to answer for certain when I can get back to them. I will cross-post as needed. Thanks for your insight.

Edit: Colin, as I do some searching for images via Google, it seems that there are a lot of 4 and 5 blade configurations. I have no idea what's technically most accurate. For example, here's a vintage image of a 5-blade; www.howitflies.com/files/photos/Hawker-Sea-Fury-Two-Wire.jpg

Nice. Love that image! I wanted to get out there over the weekend, but life got in the way while I was making other plans.

It's a two-seat Hawker Sea Fury for sure.
As far as I remember only some prototype had four blades and production aircraft had five blades. But I am not 100%.
