p.1 #1 · p.1 #1 · D600 to D750

Hi,

I currently own a D600 with Sigma 50mm 1.4 Art. I am thinking of upgrading to the Nikon D750 for the sole reason of faster autofocus. my question is this: Is it a big enough of a difference in auotofucs to warrant an upgrade? My only lens is the Sigma 50 Art. Does the faster focusing of the D750 show improvement with non Nikon lenses?

Thanks for your help

I believe the general consensus is that the D750 does focus quicker than the d600.

Whether or not the upgrade is worth it to you is completely based on your own financial needs and budget.

I find the af on the d750 to be better, yes...faster and more accurate.

But I guess my question would be: what are you shooting with just a Sigma 50 ART that would require faster AF? If you're shooting action, I imagine putting the money toward a lens more suited to that purpose might find you larger gains. The 50 1.4 ART is no speed demon AF-wise (as most wide-aperture lenses aren't).

I have noticed no appreciable boost in AF speed with either of my Sigma ART lenses, but then, I haven't really been looking. The 24-70 and 70-200 are faster, however.

ETA: That said, my old d600 did a very solid job shooting sports and dance. The d750 is a bit better from an AF perspective, but the d600 was no slouch, either.

I'd save the money and put it towards another lens since you'd benefit more as a whole with another lens option. You could get the Sigma 24-105 for the price difference and have a fantastic general purpose lens.
