if they were Nikon bodies , nikon would probably just deny it was an issue and then rush out a T61 and T61i

Just curiosity...could this have occurred after QC and exposure to heat or such be causing this problem?

That's certainly possible, if it's being caused by (for example) a chemical reaction in the adhesive used.

As a corollary, I wonder if the same adhesive (maybe new) is being used on the new 5Ds?

Looks like Canon has a major issue on their hands. If this happened during manufacturing it seems that the Canon QC processes are horrid. If this happened afterwards due to heat or other conditions during transport, the problem might be worse than just bad QC. Every camera might be suspect and prone to failure later on. Replacing sensors is probably not cost effective and the repaired cameras could not or should not be sold as new. Canon might have to scrap every T6i and T6s that has been made. Of course, they also need to go back to the drawing boards and solve the basic issue.

Maybe Canon just needs to start over and buy Sony or Toshiba sensors. It is already clear from the early reviews that the new sensor is lagging regarding dynamic range.

No, mine is clean like a whistle.
That CMOS sensor is a thing of beauty, and if there are flawed units, Canon will replace them.

Replacing the filter stack is a lot simpler than replacing the sensor, so they won't have to assign too much of their profit to restoring goodwill

Having suffered with the banding of the Toshiba APS-C sensor, I'd take the Sony sensor any day.

Not possible. Since we all know Canon won't send out bad cameras. This must be user error same as with the 7DII AF problems.
