Thx

Too much going on at once IMO, would like to see some of the texture on that nice tree.

In a scene with so much going on, I think isolation and a clear cut subject would work best (while still including that tree).

Cheers,

Jeff

+1 @ Jeff's thoughts. I think there's too much contrast. My other nit is the modern building and power pole in the BG. They're hurting this image a lot.

Very cool place though. I love that moss.

The background distractions would be easy to eliminate. The main problem is there is no center of interest. Everything is happening around the edges. The middle of the photo is framed by the tree, headstones and crypt(?), but there's nothing in the middle to grab your attention.

I'll be heading to Charleston on business next week. I love to photograph there.

Well said re nothing in the center.
Curious to see if you return with some images.
I met another FMer there.

Thanks.
Yeah, hate that building in the BG.

I'm debating on which camera to take. The good news is that I'm driving over so I can bring the 5D II if I want. I might go light and just take the Lumix LX7.

I'm not sure how much off time I'll get. I'm going to be pretty busy. Weather may be a factor. If it's nice, I'll probably take the big camera.

All we had was one dreary morning punctuated by showers.
I appreciate the feedback above.
Almost embarassed for posting.....I need the help on improving these kinds of images but they are clearly not up to the level I usually post.
Oh well...

I was with another FMer....he shot mirrorless. And better comps.

Not quite as much Charleston (tree moss), but maybe a bit more weighting toward the cemetery.

Perhaps you could straighten the brick building and select the modern building in the background and apply blurring to simulate a shallower DOF.

Not a cemetery image, but one from a prior business trip to Charleston:

We'll get there one day!

One day.

Nice shots, dmac!

Wouldn't mind seeing a full mono conversion for the swans - I think that bw is perfect for the mood of the shot.
