Looks like Lightroom CC and the latest version of Photoshop are opening RAW files from the 5DsR

Indeed, I just tried ACR9 in my CS6, as well as LR6, and they're opening. Good times!

Now I just need to get my camera

What's far more important, there's an 11-24 profile!

Have to download some RAWs from imaging resource and try them and see how the shadow DR holds up.

Tried that yesterday and they are a lot better compared to 5D MK II

where did you find them? On IR they say they pulled the raw's because Canon asked them to do so.

I was lucky enough to go shoot with one and have pictures of my own.

Now you're being a tease, Stan.

Did you enjoy the look of the files?

stan, a question before making the decision to get the 5DSR did you perhaps take a pause of a short kind and consider getting a medium format like say a Pentax 645Z?

Nils, I bet Stan used his 11-24mm on that camera. Imagine a 50MP body for that lens; it is mind boggling. When are you going to Iceland again ?

The files are nice, from a DR and noise perspective, at least in my book. I am more of a realist, though. I judge files by how they look on my 5K and 4K screens.

The 11-24 is a swell lens on that camera, for sure.

I have used MF cameras on many of my assignments, and haven't enjoyed it a bit. The 5DsR allowed me to shoot with the convenience and speed of a 5D with almost the quality of a PhaseOne or Hassy back - in some aspects, better than that - without any of the pains associated with MF. Different strokes for different people, of course. It also should be noted that today, the MF backs are at a much higher pixel count than the 5DsR (or 5DS R, as the EXIF says).

Joshua, things are indeed getting out of hand here regarding expenses! EOS 5DS R with a EF 11-24mm on a trip to Iceland...? I don't even dare to try and add the cost together!

But it is a damn fine year if you're shooting with canon and have some money to burn, that is for sure!

I have Lightroom 5.7 and Photoshop 5. I also have a 5Ds on pre-order. I am opposed to renting software (for as long as feasible).

Does that mean I will have to depend on Canon DPP as the initial step of my workflow?

Yes. But you can buy LR6 outright, without a rental, for $79 upgrade.

Hi Stan....

Did you have enough time with the camera to form any opinion whether there might be any noticeable shutter shock? They worked on the mirror vibration as we know, but Canon never said anything about the shutter.

Thanks. Good news! I've tried looking for it on the Adobe site but the latest download for Windows is 5.7.1 (that I can find) and a heavy-handed push for Creative Cloud.

Do you have a link for the upgrade to 6?

Here is a link that will show the Full version. Just select Upgrade and the product you want to upgrade from.

That link takes me to a shopping cart, which of course is empty.

However, with the clues you provided I was able to find the product and then the upgrade. Thanks.

The camera felt slower (5fps) and gentler, for lack of a better word. The drop from 6 to 5 was surprisingly big. Then again, when I slow down my 1DX from 12 to 10, it's a world of a difference too...
