A couple of hours of no rain yesterday and the hummers were busy chasing each other between sips of nectar.

One female now seems to rule the roost. She runs off everything and does quite the display to ward off intruders .
She does not take any flack even from the males.

Would love to get two of them in the same shot when they do their fights in the air . However, I just am not quick enough .

As always , your nits and suggestions are much appreciated.

Birdie, I enjoy seeing the tails fanned like this you can really see the difference in the
two species, very nice.

There is something special about those tails when opened up like that...very well done....do you add some fill flash to get the pop?

Both are excellent with the first stunning Roberta. As far as getting two in the air together you have to keep trying and eventually it will happen.

Hi Eric. Yes, I did use flash. I was using fill flash , flash compensation was around -2 to -2.7 . I had the Harbor Digital Flash extender . Since I was not that far away, I had it angled up at 45 degrees.

Wow! Both are wonderfull. I have never seen the tails fanned like that in an image. Amazing.
