p.1 #1 · p.1 #1 · question re: canon 6D

Recently traded from 5D to 6D but for some reason sending 6D jpg's in email isn't working. I'm told that everyone is receiving the links but that link does not open.
Nothing else has changed as far as computer setup. Using Photoshop CS6.
I have more than one email address so tried sending jpg's to myself and had no problem.

Anyone have any ideas about this?

Dylan

I can't see how this would be related to the camera. Sounds like an OS file protection or ownership thing. Does this happen to jpegs that are straight out of camera, or after going through PS CS6?

P.S. I have two 6D and I also use PS CS6. I often send 6D photo jpegs by email.

As I did with the 5D I am sending these jpg's via email either straight from the camera or from a card reader. Those form the 5D are transmitted properly, those sent from 6D are received as jpg's but no one can open them.

Also have tried opening them in PSCS6 and then sending as jpg. Same deal. No one can open them.

My guess is that the 6MP jpegs from the 6D are over the limit for your email (or your friends'), and that the 5D jpegs are much smaller in size, and didn't trigger those limits. Do you think that could be the problem?

Well, I hadn't thought of that but some how doesn't seem quite right. However, will see if I can find anything regarding that possibility. I do have more than one email address and have been able to send same jpg to all other addresses with all other addresses being with different email services.

They should should receive an attachment and not a link.

Are they getting a hyperlink or URL to the files in your computer?

The 6D produces jpegs like any other camera, so I think this is a problem further up the chain as everyone else said

then why do you think the problem is camera ? or even at your side of the email send ?

have you tried sending an email with a small attachment to the reciever to see if they can actually recieve?

As far as I remember, the pics are not send as attachments. They are uploaded on Canon site and the destination email address gets only a link. The sad part is the "CANON iMAGE GATEWAY" uses Flash technology (available on PC systems, not available on mobile)

I'm with Rio on this! Are you sending jpg files as attachments or a hyperlink to someplace that stores your jpg files? Please give more detail.

Maybe the OP should change the title of the thread to "Question About Sending Email", since it doesn't appear to have anything to do with a 6D (or even a Canon product, for that matter...)?
