I made some suet feeders out of dead branches by boring several holes into them , packing the holes with suet and hanging them around my Mom's house in SC. The Brown Nuthatches went crazy for them and 2-3 were on them all the time. They seemed to be more inclined to this rather than the standard suet feeder cage. Scott
I did exactly that, Scott. It's right next to the log feeder he is on, but he seems to prefer the sunflower seeds in my feeders more than the suet for some reason. I once saw him sitting for 3 minutes in one spot on a plastic "lantern" style feeder without moving, as if enthralled by all the seeds, but I don't take shots of them on non-natural looking feeders. Maybe this one is a little off in the head.
