Hey Paul,
What a cool trip you were on there. My favorites are #4 and then #3. I do have a few suggestions for the others, which are nice shots, but could be a little better.
#1 and 2 are going to be hard shots to get light onto the ground area manually and get them to look right. Typically in scenes like this you have 2 options. 1st time it so you can use a partial moon to light up the scene for you. 2nd would be to have set up and taken some twilight shots where the ground is lit up more and then take the star shots (without moving the camera) later and then blend the two.
In the case of #1, it looks a little off because the trees in the foreground are lit up but the mountain/hill in the background is totally black. Having some detail on that back mountain would make a huge difference.
In #2, it feels massively vignetted. The center of the shot is lit up nicely, but then it very quickly gets too dark. Having the scene evenly lit would have really helped that one. Using a layer mask to select all around that middle spotlight and then brighten up the darker areas to match could be done now in post.
In #5, the small branches and leaves hanging down into the frame are distracting. Rarely does framing a shot with branches from trees work.
I hope that helps.
Jim
