Came across this unfortunate individual while I was out with the wife.

Normally I can't stand a tilted horizon, but I feel it fits in this case both playing up the fact that something isn't right and I hope it helps engage the viewer with the fish.

Focus is mainly on the nasty set of teeth these guys sport, and gradually falls off as you exit the upper right.

How do you feel about the composition?

Processing feel okay?

Lemme know!

Jeff

cool find
not prehistoric, eh?
I think the monotone is well-chosen.
Horizon/tilt doesn't bother me but is noticeable.
I think the vignetting is a bit strong, especially upper left corner
I like the burning/gradient at the bottom.

Thanks, Scott!

Tilt is definitely supposed to be noticeable. :P

Vignetting is coming through more pronounced with the compressed upload - not nearly as prominent offline, but I totally see it online.

You know it's good to get out and walk, but maybe you should have taken the gar.

Maybe a bit less vignette? Not sure the position and character of the stick adds much as it is. Perhaps a smaller one or one placed so it was a less intrusive and distracting object that works the composition with a less visual heavy hand?

Something fishy here, looks like it has an overbite.

Sorry could not resist and you already have the best comments before I got here.

I think I'll have to post a version that isn't so compressed - unfortunately the vignetting is much more pronounced with the web copy. My bad, should have edited it after I saw it hit the forums.

I didn't manipulate the scene before shooting, just got down and dirty and went to it. Personally I think the stick keeps the eyes pushed in towards the diagonal, but then again I think I put too much weigh on obvious lines.

Do I at least get bonus points for shooting it as-is?

Thanks for the feedback, as always!

Ahaha no worries, Ben - Scott already got things started so now it's pretty much expected.

Cheers,

Jeff

I kinda agree with Karen about the stick yet I think it does add a little drama to the scene.

Think of it as Gar-nish

See what ya started Scott.

I like the composition. The angled horizon works for me in this image, as does the vignette.

I have no punny comments to add.

Cheers, SE!

And for shame about the lack of puns.

The angle works for me, as does the stick. The vignette is a little gar-ish for my taste.

Thanks for the comments, Kyle!

Keep up with the puns!

Looks like the vignette is exaggerated not due to compression but the display size.

Bummer. I swear it's not as bad as it seems!

Looks like somebody left their gar-bage laying around on the beach.

I gar-anty I wouldn't wanna get my fingers in them chompers.

So, did you pan-sear your dinner with a wine vinegar?

BTW, if these seem too fishy ... you can just dis-re-gar-d them.

... So long as the message isn't garbled....

I wonder if that garbo found his gargoyle?

Garçon, this fish isn't fresh!
