This morning in Olympic National Park. This native plant is specific to the NW Pacific Coast and British Columnbia - Erythronium oregonum. Many different species of this genus exist -http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Erythronium. Thanks for looking and comments are welcome.

Bob

Sweet. What's the difference from a trout lily?

Very pretty. I don't think we have those around here (Ohio). We do have white trout lilies, which look similar. Is there much of a leaf with this?

Thanks for posting. I'm going to go look this one up.

Looks like this is a relative of the trout lilies that we have here in the east, although probably a different variety. At least a close relative. I'm looking forward to the wildflowers starting up here this spring--shot a few snowdrop blossoms yesterday. They were my first flowers of this year.

Thanks again for posting and getting me fired up for spring.

Many thanks, Paul, for your most welcome and kind comments and glad you like the image, here on the Pacific Coast. The Trout Lily, yellow flower, which is the same genus, but different species, exists in the Eastern U.S.

Real nice exposure of the white flower and placed well for composition. You might want to darken the leaves on the bottom yet leave them showing. Good choice of DOF as well Bob.

Thanks very much, Harsha, for your most welcome and kind comments and glad you like the image. The Avalanche Lily is in the same genus as the Fawn Lily and is similar in appearance, but exists at higher mountain elevations, at timberline and in subalpine meadows and blooms at the edge of melting snowfields.
