Same bee from the first Tree House image, but this time it's the next morning and I camped out in front the hole for over half an hour waiting for the Mason Bee to get active. I made several attempts at this image, but the critter would just go back into its home when I moved or cast a shadow over it with the camera. But eventually he realized that I wasn't a threat and I got the frame that was stuck in my head from the night before.

Tech Specs: Canon 70D (F16, 1/250, ISO 100) + a Canon MP-E 65mm macro lens (about 1.5x) + a diffused MT-24EX (-2/3 FEC). This is a single, uncropped, frame taken hand held.

Very nice John, love the composition, colour and of course the detail - you don't need a small sensor for enough dof.

Thanks Mark!

I would like to see Canon come out with a 2x crop factor sensor just for macro, with no more than 14MP. I think that their sensor manufacturing is good enough now to make a low noise 2x version, and the higher crop would help with depth of field.
