As most of you know, I went to central Florida several weeks ago. I've already posted one set from Viera Wetlands. I normally just post shots in the order I shot them, but I had so many keepers that it would take me a long time to do that - not that I'm complaining...

So I have decided to post a few of my favorites from the trip. Included are shots from Viera, Merritt Island, and Gatorland. I have enough favorites for two posts, so this is Part 1. Again, much of the time I was too close to get the whole bird.

So here is the first part, and as always C&C appreciated ~ Ron

1- Sunrise at Viera.

2- Anhinga shortly after the wetlands opened. I could have used a little more light - or not. :)

3- The only decent shot of a Greenie I took at Viera.

4- Too close so it's another portrait.

5- Stork touchdown.

7- Too close again. LOL

8- I thought I would try a little flash at Gatorland

9- Backlit Snowy. This is bright on purpose, but it's not blown.

Ron,
This is an amazing set of images... your spoonbill is as good as it gets... the position of the bird combined with the slight blur in the wings makes the picture so very perfect! I also like the backlit egret... the details in the plumage are beautiful...

I look forward to seeing more from your trip.

Ron,
It's fun to see what you got from these places I have visited.
And you have a wide collection of subjects, image types.
Here are my "critique" thoughts:

1. It's a neat environment and a great place for landscapes. This one feels a bit heavy on the bottom so I would do a bit of crop, go more pano.
2. I think the lighting is just fine. I really like the silhouette. Maybe some noise reduction? don't know what you have, but you might experiment with different crops, with perhaps a bit more on each side and less on the bottom.
3-6. Not much to critique here. Wish I had taken these. The Spoonie landing is great. Love the blur in the wings!
7. A bit tight. but what are you supposed to do? Ask the bird to back up? Great detail.
8. Maybe an Artie Morris critique: wish the head was rotated just a smidge more parallel to the plane of the camera. But that is nit-picking. Fine shot.
9. Love it. The subject is great. Lighting works well for me. Nit: more in focus beak/greater DOF. But I think it is really strong as is.

Looking forward to future installments.
