I was privileged this first day of April to get these shots. First, a rarely-seen Western Variegated Florp. These birds' mottled plumage enables them to blend in with surrounding foliage so effectively that they are virtually invisible.
Second, a Greater Black-throated Veebler. These magnificent birds are seldom observed in the western US, so this was a real treat. I have never seen feathers so dark on a bird before. This shot is a close up of the inky-black neck plumage.
