I enjoyed the 17-55mm 2.8 before it disappeared.

The 15-85 is quite good but the 18-135 has the best bang for your buck,

Mine was stolen. What does "bot" mean?

18-135 STM works good on a cropper for a walk around. Great range!

17-55 f/2.8
15-85
17-40 f/4L
16-35 f/4L IS
18-135 STM IS
24-105 f/4L IS
24-105 STM IS

Any of those should work depending if you favour wide or tele and if you want to pay for L glass and IS.

Personally I find 24+ too narrow for a general on crop.

I had a 17-55 and it was awesome
15-85 is just as good but not as fast.

18-135 STM (not the old one) is OK too.

I'd recommend the Sigma 17-50/2.8 OS, plus something longer (85/1.8, 100/2). The 17-55/2.8 remains expensive (and heavy!), while the f/3.5+ glass just becomes too slow on crop for fading light. I had the 60D and 15-85, which while producing excellent images in good light or better, struggled significantly when the light dropped. The 70D has higher usable ISO, but it's not *that* much better to make up two stops worth at 50mm+.

back when I had a 7D (and many croppers before it) I used the 24-105L in the thinking that I always wanted the reach over the wide as I also have a 12-24/4 (that in fact hardly ever got used between 15mm & 24mm) .
but after much badgering from a couple of friends on here I finally caved and got the 17-55 . Oh heck that was SOOOOOOOOOO much the better lens .
and rather than always hitting the long end and wanting more I found I used the camera differently (got in closer rather than just standing back) and actually used the wide end a lot where once I never shot in that range .

If you need more reach then the 15-85 would get my vote but id rather have the extra stops than the 2mm (2mm is quite a lot on the wide end) and 30mm on the long end .

or the Sigma 17-70 . a very good lens also

failing that I think your into superzoom territory (if you want to start wide and still have reach in ONE lens) . thing is they are always a compromise . a couple have 'decent' IQ (not talking quality standard zoom IQ) but they suffer from high distortion and are also pretty big and heavy on the camera all the time

Oops, sorry, I didn't realize what you meant. Sorry for your loss, that is a great lens. "Bot" should read "not".

Thank you for the kind words.

I got the lens when I was new at taking photography serious.

My experience with the lens: I thought for the price I paid it would do miracles, that wasn't the case. I enjoyed landscapes with it and walking around, but I won't be replacing most likely, because I found myself always reaching for the 85 1.8 or 70-200 2.8. or 8mm fisheye. It's a great lens, I just expected too much out of it for the price.
