p.1 #1 · p.1 #1 · What should I do?

So now I have a D3s, D3 and D7100. The D3's were for sports but I really enjoy the D7100 for wildlife since I get the extra reach with the 300/2.8 and 1.7TC with almost no loss of quality. I am thinking probably sell the D3, recoup most of what I paid for it and perhaps get a really good wide angle lens (have the 24-85 now) so I would like something a bit wider. Thoughts?

I would sell the D3 for a 16-35VR or 14-24/2.8, whichever suits you better (there are significant pros/cons to both).

I would also sell the D3S for a D750 unless you need FPS above 6.5 (sounds like you might though for the sports).

I need the D3s/want it for sports as shooting with the D7100 in RAW is not an option...however I always shoot jpeg for the papers I work for. I shoot RAW when I do wildlife so I have to be wary with the D7100 since it's buffer is so crappy. I was thinking about the 16-35.... As far as the D750 goes....I will wait since I never buy a new body anyways!

Sell all of them and get a nice D7200 along with 10-24 and either a 16-85VR or 17-55 (used)

Depends on what you shoot and your goals. You only mentioned wildlife. If that's your big thing, sell it all and buy a D7200 and either 200-400mm f4 or 500mm f4. Simplify.

From what I have heard on here and on the web (no..not dpreview) I have no reason to really look at the D7200. The D7100 is great for what it does...provide me with the extra reach I need for wildlife, especially when I go to SC in 2 weeks. I WISH I could sell it all and get a 200-400 but I think my wife would not approve of that expenditure..and especially since I had to just drop 10k cash to purchase a new truck! I think the logical choice would be to sell the D3 and bank the money or sell the 24-85 and get a wider lens.

If the US lens rebates are still on the 16-35VR is a steal.

No matter how good a rebate is, it's almost always a better value to buy used. In the past week I bought a used Nikon 105mm f2.8 VR for $570 and a used Rodenstock 135mm f5.6 APO for $255. Great deals on both! I see 200-400mm f4 VR going for $3,200 to $3,500 on ebay. D3s sells for ~$2,500. The lens is in reach!

Yes but I would have to sell the 300/2.8 I just bought.......my lust for it prohibits me from selling it!
