There are two Zeiss lenses that are part of a larger bundle on Craigslist locally, and I'm interested in picking them up to use with my Sony and Olympus cameras. They appear to be in very good condition, but I have no idea what they're worth. Any ideas on value? This would be a bit of a whim, so I definitely don't want to overpay.

Thanks much!

Do you know the typical performance of the C/Y 35 f2.8?
Certainly not the best of the old C/Y lenses.
My 28f2.8 is quite a bit better. Still have that one, sold the 35 long ago.
The 28 and 35 are usually around $350 in great shape at KEH.com
The 50f1.7 is great stopped down a bit. Wide open it has a somewhat soft presentation with what I can only describe as "pastel-like" color.

Thanks to both of you for the information. I picked up both plus the m43 adapter for a total of $320, so I don't think I can go too far wrong. It's something to tinker with and have a little fun. Just need to go find some subjects to use them on now.

For that price they certainly a worthy of a try. Excellent deal!

50mm 1.7 is worth getting if you get a good sample. The 35mm 2.8 is unimpressive. I found many FF 35mm lenses to be only so-so on the high pixel density of M43 sensors - save up and get dedicated M43 lenses is my advice.

Save up for m4/3 lenses....I would save up for a used A7 and then try the C/Y 35 2.8 on full frame...then you'll learn to appreciate the lens! The Cintax 50 1.7 will blow you away for stopped down landscape work. One of the sharpest for that kind of work. Wide open is kinda funky...

Thanks Gregg. I have an A7R and just ordered the adapter this afternoon. Shirozina, I have nice dedicated m43 lenses and a Zeiss 35mm for my Canon. These lenses were purely for fun, and if I get some cool images with character, it's a bonus.

Go checkout ebookman in the A7 thread in either teh Alt or Sony forum. He has one, and his shots are superb, with very typical Zeiss pop and separation.
