Pleasant but perhaps busy?

I like it except for the grass in the lower left.

Still from a 1940s jungle film? As a lover of 1940s cinema I dig it...

However, as Charlie K. pointed out-the grass is a distraction...

The grass can stay ... but it is overemphasized in contrast / sharpening.

Similarly, there are a few other areas where the contrast seems higher than the overall image vibe.

Can I see the color version? This is a tropical setting (palm tree is the tell). Looks hazy. I bet it was fantastic being there. The grass is good for me. I like sharp stuff at the bottom of an image.

My first thought when I saw this image was "Ansel Adams"!

So it can't be to bad right!?

I gotta take the side of no grass along the bottom. It does add depth but there just isn't enough of it to make a foreground. Maybe if it were lighter (less contrast) like Kent mentioned it would "blend"?

Edit:
I originally commented about liking the color tone of this image because it looked like it had a slight sepia color to it but now I'm not sure. Is this just B&W or is there a very slight sepia color to it?

As others have commented below, I agree. I will experiment with reducing the blacks there or crop/clone out

That's great! And consistent with my (unconscious) vision

So we (almost) all agree: something wrong with the grass. Probably the only larger real estate that picked up the black point, so I will work on it.
No selective work done in the image as shown, except vignette/gradient in sky

You will very much appreciate this, Ben. Viera Wetlands, near Cape Canaveral, is a county water facility with impoundments and known for great birding/bird photography. Which is why I was there. But I arrived with sunny skies on the Atlantic, and a 1/2 mile inland dense fog and this exotic environment. So out came the MKII and I shot more landscapes that day than birds.
The color? Meh! But I will share later, see what you think. Maybe I will post SOOC so BW and color folks can play.

Quite a compliment, by association!
Subtle sepia. I looked at SEP Pro pre-sets but don't like the toning so I then alter the intensity, color balance a tad for the look I want. Meant to evoke a timeless, older capture with some subtle warmish toning.

I can not tell you how relieved I am that you confirmed the presence of some color. I was really starting to second guess myself.

IMHO the subtle color tone you used is what really makes this image and you used it perfectly to achieve an old capture look. To my eyes you didn't over do it and as such it looks natural.

Thanks Scott, I see why you went B&W. I could probably get clarity but it would spoil it and I have no clue how to do B&W. B&W was the right choice here.
