What's MFD?

in my opinion I hate how the 58 is lumped into the general 50 category when its really in a category on its own. I would never sell a fantastic contasty sharp 50mm like the ART just to get the 58.. thats me though and I have different use cases.
I love using the 58 wide open @ 1.4 for almost all my outdoor portraiture where I am NOT near MFD and have a beautiful back ground for buttery swirly bokeh. I love using the Sigma Art 50 lens in studio wide open @ 1.4 due to its beautiful micro contrast and critical sharpness near MFD.
Heres a group shot with the 58 @ 1.4 outdoors where this lens lives on my d800e. not near MFD and nice colorful back ground to melt away.

Heres a recent Sigma ART shot in studio @ 1.4 where I dont need the bokeh to be beautful and swirly I just need it to be blurred and maintain my critical sharpness and micro contrast.
