Oh it's that angry guy again

Two different metering algorithms. Small differences in the overall exposure could be attributed to stray light coming into the viewfinder. This is normal even in Canon, at least Nikon mentions that in the MANUAL which he was ironically READING

Exactly. The guy seems to be a Canon advocate.

Because then he wouldn't be able to make such lovely videos.

My answer to him is simple: Learn your tools, don't be a tool.

With the mirror up, you get neither of the Nikon Matrix metering nor the phase detect AF. That's the basic problem with LiveView. When I hit the LiveView button, I know it's time for full manual operation.

In live view, the metering is done based on the light hitting the image sensor. The brightness is measured separately in several areas of the frame. You will not get the exact same exposure in live view as with Matrix. Nikon has always clearly explained this. He also didn't close the viewfinder shutter, which could be interfering.

The guy is just trying to get "likes" from Canon fanboys on his YouTube video.

He probably has a different AF point selected in LV vs the viewfinder AF point. Matrix-metering is heavily weighted by the active AF point, both in its traditional implementation through the VF as well as the VF-simulated implementation used in LV; Canon's LV implementation does the same thing. The reason the LV video settings were different is because the camera maintains a separate settings bank for LV stills mode vs LV video mode.
