Hi All...

Just looking for some thoughts on the following to see if any others are experiencing similar issues:

I've noticed for the past several days that fredmiranda.com seems to load pages very slowly. For example, when I visit the home page, it loads very fast including all the graphics, photos, ads, etc. However, when I click to a forum or to a link on another part of the site, it becomes very, very slow. Photographs seem to "paint" down the browser screen and virtually all links from the home page take very long to display.

All other sites that I visit load normally and don't display the same slow displays as noted above.

I'm using Windows 7 and have tried both Internet Explorer and Google (my default browser).

I was wondering if it was just me or not. it seems to only be FM site having issues for me regardless of browser, but its running REALLY slow. a thread without pics can take several minutes to load on my end, I'm scared to try a thread with lots of pics.

I noticed Fred added a different forum header with a control panel, etc on it, so I wonder if he's doing backend work on the server or something that is slowing things down.

OK for whatever reason, after I posted that its improved even more, seems to be doing fairly well now.

Hah, yeah I came here to ask about forum speed, and alas here's the thread. It's better, maybe not up to original speed, but better than a couple of days ago.

I'm still getting the semi-regular burp in page loading speed, but it's tolerable and could very well be something else in the chain besides the server.

I'm reminded of late of the bad old days when FM was as slow as molasses in January. We've been spoiled the last few years with lightening fast loading of pages. Have you changed server Fred? You've been making a great many changes to features on the site, most of which are welcome, but is there a problem created by code getting too complex? I'm not a programmer so I have no idea the reason... but things are very slow and I'm not the only person who has commented on that fact.

Inquiring minds want to know...

We had an issue but that has been fixed. The site loading times is the same as it was before.

When I loaded this thread it took two seconds... when I loaded Manual Focus Nikon Glass thread it took FORTY seconds. When I downloaded NYTIMES it took four seconds, when I opened a story it took three seconds. Mustang Air to Air took eight seconds... then MFNG took ten seconds. I don't know if it cable traffic but a check of speed has download of 60 mb/second.

I don't need instantaneous, but I am curious about the differences. Perhaps it is the fact MFNG is such a long thread...

Please be patient.
We work on a test site but the real test is when it goes live and massive activity takes place.
Once a slowdown is detected, we quickly revert to troubleshoot the issue.
Sometimes you are on the site when that happens and for that I apologize.

FWIW, I'm on an ancient MBP 17" (thank you, Fred) running 10.10.2 and latest Safari. 4" to load MA2a, 5" to get back to this page from there, and I'm connecting via Anonymizer, Disconnect, and have Ghostery installed as well.... So I reckon that'd be pretty quick. Just FYI

It has been lagging inconsistently recently. Sometimes it's fine, then stalls for a minute here and there for no reason. It's not my ISP as other sites are speedy.
