I have been to get images which are both sharp and show the rather fluffy, feminine appearance of these tiny flies. This one gives quite a different impression. It is a bit soft. The green background shapes were not so evident prior to uploading.

EM-1, Schneider Repro-Claron 55mm on 200mm extension, at f13, flash, FOV 5mm, cropped by about 30%.

Yes I like the angle also. Such a unique creature.

Thanks, Brian.

The moths decided to be cooperative yesterday, with quite a few flying up and settling on the rim of the bin, or on the edge, where I could frame them acceptably.

Other frames with the eyes in as good, or better, focus had one or more antennae blocking part of the view.

These moths seem to come in two quite different sizes, which might explain why the detail is inconsistent.

I may have to use f16 to get the DOF I want. What looked like a very successful session still did not give me the results I want, although the flash was now on a bracket and not held in my hand.

Harold.

Thank, Lee.

They presented lots of potential images but were easily put to flight by my gymnastics to get into position. Framing is definitely the main difficulty but the short working distance helps with that axis.
