What are you trying to try? I guess I don't get it. More explanation maybe?

This doesn't really work that well for a snow or rain shot. The problem is that you simply have light going downward, and that doesn't catch much snow or rain.

Next time, get two speedlights down about five feet behind the subject, pointed up 45 degrees and away from your subject 45 degrees with the zoom of the speedlights as wide as possible. You can put a clear baggie over the speedlights to keep them dry.

The speedlights will light the umbrella, which will light your subject. It will also highlight the snow and rain.

Pretty cool shot. maybe in a different spot it would have been cooler. What ground we see is a little boring, but I think it's nice execution.

Try a crop that is not much wider than the umbrella itself.

I like the concept and your willingness to post it. Rarely do things work perfectly on the first attempt. Good image though. I like it.

Picky Picky Picky but thanks for the feed back, with a little more planning and scouting locations and maybe if I owned more than one speedlight I could have done a better job. but this literally was a 5 min shot it took me longer to duct tape that speedlight to the umbrella than anything else.

and the camera is level the ground isnt.

Thanks again fellas. Cheers!!

The idea is interesting. I like the basics of it.

Maybe it would have worked as a tighter shot? The snow that is visible is near your model/subject. A tighter shot would have filled the image with more of it. Just a thought...

Of course if your weather is anything like our weather, you may never get another chance to try it.

Thanks for sharing.
