Well after seeing Dan Heitman and Canada Jim's Pygmy Owl posts, I had to go out and get some myself.

Thanks for keeping me up to date on where they are Jim.

Here are my best 4 of the couple of hours at Fish Creek Park.

1-4 of 4

Comments and feedback is appreciated. Scott

Great captures, Scott. Number two is my favourite, but the skinny version in the last shot a close second. Any idea what spooked the owl - merlin or perhaps the pesky chickadees?

Love the images Scott. All well done per your usual standard. Love the variety of expressions. He looked none too happy in 1 and 2 and then figured he would give you a show in 4. What was that all about?

Hey Scott. These cute little guys sure can look sinister, and you captured that look very well. 4 sure is a fun pose - trying to look like a Burrowing Owl ~ Ron

Man is this little fellow putting on a show for you. He's really giving you the "evil eye" in the first two, but I nearly choked on the 4th shot. ROTFL
Great shots. What a treat.
It seems you've cropped these in almost a 2:3 ratio instead of 3:4. I'm not sure you need so much on the width. I think you could take a little off each end on #2 thru #4, particularly #4....but...I still think it works as is. I was so taken with the poses, I hardly notice.

David Leask: Glad you like the pygmy. Thanks for the feedback. Much appreciated. Scott

ashley138: He is good at posing if you have a long lens. And boy is he hard to find because he is so small. Fortunately, other photographers do the spotting for me. Glad you like them. Thanks for the feedback. Much appreciated. Scott

brimull: Glad you like the owl. Thanks for the feedback. Much appreciated. Scott

Ted ellis: Glad you like the pop. I took about 1000 pictures and then narrowed it down to these character ones. Thanks for the feedback. Much appreciated. Scott

Well done Scott. In #3, the bright spot above the bird could be removed quite easily. Neat pose in #4. #1 is quite a nice shot, but I'll go with #3 as my fave (a little off the left might also help that one out, as it would remove some of the bright, oof snow.

cmxchuck: Glad you like them. Thanks for the feedback. Miuch appreciated. Scott

canadajim: I did not see what he was looking at - but there were some hawks in the area that I heard. Glad you like them. Thanks for telling me where they are - 90% of getting a good shot is knowing where to go. And you provided the directions. Much appreciated. Scott

angel manguel: I guess he did not appreciate going eye to eye with my 600mm lens. I chose the pictures for expression and glad you like the choices. Thanks for the feedback. Much appreciated. Scott

surfnron: I like the sinister look from a owl the size of a pop can. Glad you like them. Thanks for the feedback. Much appreciated. Scott

OBXGuide: They were kind of heroic shots for high quality, so I went with more background. I will look at the other crops to see. Glad you like them. Thanks for the feedback. Much appreciated. Scott

All are well done Scott yet 3 captivates me with those great eyes. If it's a crop you might want to move the owl more to the left so it's looking into the frame.

Wonderful, Scott, and a beautiful demonstration that living in the frozen north offers more opportunities than amazing landscapes! (You should stop by here more often). ~Greg
