p.1 #1 · p.1 #1 · D810 won't turn off

So today my D810 decided to stop turning off. Toggling the on/off switch does nothing. Taking out the battery turns the camera off, but when the battery goes in the camera comes on regarless of the on/off switch position. Here's what I've tried so far:

-Updated the firmware
-Swapped out batteries
-Swapped out and re-formatted all memory cards
-Googled
-Cursed the heaven's in frustration...and nothing has worked

I did see a forum on another site about a similar issue with the D800 but saw no solutions. The camera functions properly except for the on/off issue, so it's still usable at least.

Any ideas? Anyone else have a similar issue?

Try removing the internal battery. Not sure if the D810 has one. Otherwise ti's a faulty shutter release switch. Maybe moisture...

It could be a battery issue. I remember when I shot around below -10C at Shirakawa-go, Japan, and my D3X body was almost covered in ice due to heavy snow, when I turned off the switch, it took longer for the camera to turn off. Try another battery....

Apparently the on-off switch is defective. It's a warranty issue on US camera.

Out of curiosity, is the meter timing out or staying on?

Everything stays on unless the battery comes out. It's a usa model. Guess I'll be calling Nikon tomorrow.
