Stopped by Emerald Lake Lodge just outside Field British Columbia last night to catch the sunset. Shot with the D810 and 24 1.4. Used a Lee Filters .9 Soft grad for the sky. CC gladly welcomed.

This is really nice Erik. I do wish you had a slightly wider perspective on this shot though. The foreground snow/log patch and the beautiful mountain in the background are both fighting for my attention.

Nice image. Have you tried a panorama crop to eliminate the foreground log / snow distraction? Jim

Thanks, I shot some with a 14mm to grab a larger perspective, I don't think they turned out as well though.

I'd lose the reflection if I tried a pano crop to eliminate the log.

Slightly different angle, eliminating the foreground objects.

Erik,
I personally like the 1st as it "pops" with the color on the peaks.
The log & snow in the foreground don't bother me as I am drawn across the water by the reflection, to the peaks.

Thanks for posting

Dan

While both of these are very nice, I prefer the second image. The composition of the second image is less cluttered and has more space to it. Very nice!

These are both very nice! Play around with the crops though. I think I'd prefer the first with the log cut off, but the snowbank in. Obviously, personal preference and you have to do what you like the best. Both great shots!
