I have 2 Speedlite 580EX which I use on the hotshoe of a 5D MKII.

Issue 1: When I switch on the Flash it used to show on the LCD screen ETTL. Now it only shows TTL.

Issue 2: I used to adjust Flash Exposure Compensation by pressing the button on the wheel and turn the wheel to set the amount. When I press the button the icon for the Flash Exposure Compensation does not appear on the LCD.

Both flash units have the same issue. I went through the manual but could not find a solution to the problem.

I would very much appreciate help with these issues.

Thanks in advance,

Paul

Its highly likely to be that the screws underneath the body's hotshoe need tightening and the contacts on the body and the guns cleaning. Its easy.

Here is an old article on this issue:

Thank you Pete. Somehow the Flash started working again. The hotshoe on my 5D MKII feels pretty tight.
If it starts again acting up I'll follow your instructions.
Thanks again.
