[I'm getting older complaint]

Not sure why, but it seems like I've gotten way more insane lowballs on stuff I'm selling on B&S recently.

I love that we have such an active B&S board without having to pay eBay fees and a great feedback system to make sure that users get rewarded for being honest, easy buyers and sellers

It honestly irritates me when people send ridiculous lowballs. I get negotiating on price, and I do it all the time, but I try to negotiate within the bounds of reason - 10% here, maybe 15% there if it's sat for a while. I try not to ask for something at half price with the seller eating all the costs of doing business. Anybody else notice this going on more lately?

[end rant]

Simple.

"Sorry, but that's too low. Thanks for your interest."

Move on.

Just part of doing "business."

Could be what you consider lowball is now the market.

After all the Christmas sales, prices on all kinds of used gear seem inflated.

Regardless, this is always a bad time of year to sell.

Ignore it. Make sure your ad states "no lowballs" or "offers".

I'm a seller only under duress but my standard reply for looowballers goes like this:

Them: "$600 is pretty high, I saw one on (eBay/Craigslist/etc) for $225: could you match that?"

Me: "Sure. Which half do you want?"

I just ignore low ball offers. What irritates me more is when people offer to trade something! arghhhhhh

This site offers some of the best deals I've seen on the web... I have been buying more items here than anywhere else lately (which is still not much). I have seen first hand an item posted by a seller on another site posted here for a good 15%-25% less. Such is the power of Fred. I would say don't worry about the low-ballers. Ignore them or answer them as suggested above, and move on. You will find a good buyer soon enough.

It's nothing new, ~8 yrs ago there were a couple of guys that would
hit just about every listing with "their idea" of a fair offer. We learned
very quickly to just ignore them...not worth your time to even respond.

Most of the sellers here "do their homework" when listing a price, that usually includes s,h.fees. I always leave room for bartering with the "lifers" here on FM. Their friendship and good realtionships are worth more to me than a few extra bucks.
Any lowball I totally ignore UNLESS the AH continues to inquire then the "military madness" in me comes out and Anthony, airfrogusmc, Angelo and Evan's Spec Ops team are enlisted for a covert ops.

I give them one chance to see if they get it with a polite no and perhaps a reasonable counter offer just a bit lower than my asking price as normally I give myself some room before I hit my price floor when first listing.

In most all cases, they don't get it, and they respond with a slightly higher but still unreasonable price request, and from there I simply ignore them. I'm getting to a point where I think I'm just going to start ignoring them from the get go though, as it really annoys me when they respond back with some sob story or excuse as to why I should take a huge loss and sell it to them anyways.

I have had a few lowballers lately claiming to be students with little money to spend, like that is my problem or something and I should start some education discount program. I was a student some few years ago, and I also did not have an abundance of money and if I couldn't afford something I would have liked to acquire I simply went without, but I guess this concept is just way too old fashioned for our modern consumption driven philosophical ideal of life.

Now, now. Between two income households stretched to the max and most Americans living beyond their means, most economists predict ours will more and more revert to a barter-driven economy over the next two decades.

Don't be closed minded to creative solutions. When they low ball, ask to see a picture of their wife.

Ya just never know.

Usually, lowballers will flip items for profits. I always ignores their offer without reply PM back to them.

Low ballers usually equal low post count limited to Buy and Sell.
