I dig it! While the scene is extremely busy it's at the same time quite isolating, with the one yawning/biting/posing hippo.

The graininess feels right at home. I could use a touch more contrast and also burning the large, shiny fellow in the background some as to not pull focus from the main subject.

Well done and it makes me want to go back.

Scott, I preferred the colorized version. Although, B&W has a certain appeal I feel it is too busy. Sorry, Jim

Thanks for your feedback Jim. The scene is inherently busy and part of the "message". But the question is does BW work here and given the busy-ness, are the subject(s) well-enough defined, isolated by the POV, timing, processing.
It's not my favorite hippo shot, but....
