After nearly 2 months waiting, I got my S150-600 sports(Nikon) lens.

The lens looks really well built, very solid. It does feels heavy when holding on hand, but it's not that heavy I can't handle it. I carry this lens to local park, all of shots are hand held.

The first 2 shots would never get me into buying the lens, the last one shows that one can have a really nice DOF is wanted.
No. 4 is too soft for my linking also. That steel cable should have much more detail.

What body did you use?

They all seem a little soft, looks like a MA may be needed to get the most out of this lens.
Did you get the dock for it also

I'd suggest:
some support
adequate SS
fine tuning
not stripping Exif

Unless these are heavy crops it might be better to perform MA/lens calibration. Or try to crank up ISO and get faster exposures.

Note to our Canon responders
It's not MA over here, rather AF fine Tune.
Helps to have the right lingo...just sayin'

I think that's fault of photobucket.

Photobucket.com smash the details of image. compare this one

Nice! I do like the bokeh on the sigma. I have gotten good results setting c2 for slow AF and more stable OS and c1 for fast AF and fast OS for BIF, I just have to remember to also switch the OS to 2 for panning. I like the push-pull zoom function too, as I got used to it with the old canon 100-400mm. Happy shooting! : )

hard to judge anything without the exif data. The last looks good both small and large. The exif is there and it's at f8. You should be able to just as good wide open.

Sorry, a fairly static capture at ~11' and f8...isn't much of a test.

Yes Sir Will, I thought it was different couldn't remember the term. I want to see what this lens does.
Considering it in Canon mount of course.
How are you doing?

None of these examples cause me to have an interest in buying one of these lenses. May be the lens or the shooter, don't know which.

Doin' well, Jarvis...thanks! Yeah, curious myself and would love to see
a challenging shot from ~40 yds and 600mm wide open. That would be
my minimum application, glass too slow to be stopping down much.

F8! Taken from 500ft(easy to measure it is a half mile racetrack) Could have been 600mm but it is 500. Just happened to be what I was testing. The focal length makes no difference on this lens. It is sharp at any of them and from what I have seen so far it is as sharp wide open as it is at F8. Have not fine tuned it yet. The first shot is a 67% crop and the 2nd is a crop of that image. I have another wide open from about 150ft I posted in another thread that is the third image.

I shot this at 600mm w/ Sigma sport. I've been very satisfied with the image quality. This lens is a keeper. I had a Tamron 150 to 600 and there is no comparison. I sold it quickly.

The first four are almost completely devoid of fine detail... second one looks like it might be front focusing but it's hard to tell. Something is definitely wrong but it's hard to tell if it's focus, technique or gear.

The last one, especially the high res version, has lots of detail, which is great - but it's also close up and stopped down so that's when the lens should be at its best anyway.

Aside of the PhotoBucket-Ruined samples, the lens looks great! From the original 4, I thought the OP may have needed some AF-fine-tune, as it almost looked like some front-focusing was going on.

With the Sport version's performance, I wonder what the Contemporary one will be like? Wonder if there's going to be a big IQ difference, or mostly differing on build quality, weather-resistance, OS? and AF (speed/accuracy).
