The rumors were indeed true. Canon just announced two new flagship DSLR cameras with the highest megapixel count in the market. The full frame EOS 5DS and EOS 5DS R pack a massive 50.6MP CMOS sensor. The "R" version cancels the low pass filter for even higher resolution. The cameras were designed for studio, fashion, architecture and landscape photographers striving to capture the highest resolution possible from a DSLR camera. Video shooters will be disappointed as both cameras top out at 1080/30p video mode without a headphone socket or clean HDMI out.
They share the same dual DIGIC 6 processors, a 61-point AF system with 41 cross-type points and a 150,000-pixel RGB+IR metering sensor with 252 zones. Available in June 2015.
