I am a nikon D 800 FF BIF, action shooter.
I would like more fps and lighter outfit, how is the 7DII in image quality and accuracy for action.
Also if blown up to 20x30 or slightly larger?
I will also look for a 70-200 f4 to shoot with.

Wait a week for the D7200 announcement. Rumors are 71pt AF and 8 FPS, in a smaller/lighter body. If it meets your needs, no need for additional cross-brand glass investment.

Personally I'd hold off on the 7D2 until the AF issues are resolved. Image quality will not be with you're used to with Nikon, but it certainly isn't bad. You can get great 20X30's from 12MP so I don't think you will have an issue with your prints either way. Also, 200mm is pretty short for most BIF, even on a crop sensor - I'd probably want a bit longer if you go that route.

I did not know that the announcement was coming.
I will wait a week, although the glass I have is getting too heavy for me and will change anyway.

The rumor is 6 fps.
Hopefully it is more, I really like the thought of 10 fps on the Canon

Have you looked at the Nikon 300/4 PF VR? It only weighs 755G (significantly less than a 24-70). Might be a good option for you regardless, if the weight/reach balancing act is a primary concern.

There are also rumors for 8 FPS from Japanese sources, but as usual, all just speculation until the announcement.

Also I do not believe the 7D2 can do 10 FPS with full AF.

I like the flexibility of the 70-200 range.
I presently have the 70-200 2.8 VRII and the 300 f4.
Between the camera a lens getting too heavy to handhold at my age.

Fair enough!

Either way, wait a week, and you'll be able to make a better decisions with everyone's card on the table at that point.

How many of you folks would actually use the hoped for 71pt AF on moving birds? Just wondering.

For downsizing with both body and lenses, you may want to look at the new Olympus 4/3 and the new 300mm about to come out. That will give you a lot lighter combo and a 600mm equivalent.

While it looks like a stellar little camera for stationary subject use, the new Olympus 4/3 (OMD M5 II) doesn't have PDAF, and would be a terrible BIF/action choice IMHO.

I used to shoot BIF with a 6fps 5DMark III before switching to the 7D Mark II. While I never tested to see if true 10fps is achieved, I can tell you the 7DII is fast and with it I can catch more action (like pelicans chucking down on anchovies) than I could with the 5DIII. The keeper rate goes way up.

IQ-wise, the 7DII is very noisy compared to the 5DIII. Having said that, its IQ is totally useable and I have that 1.6 zoom factor. I'm very happy with the 7DII for BIF. I also have a Canon 70-200 f/4 IS lens and it's really light and sharp. However, as others mentioned, it's not really suitable for BIF due to (lack of) reach, even with a 1.4x extender.

If you decide to go with Canon, a Canon 400mm f/5.6L maybe light enough for your use.

It does 10 FPS using all 65 AF points but drops to 9.5 FPS if you enable iTR tracking.

The Nikon D800 and Canon 7Dii are virtually the same size.
The Nikon 70-200f4 is also very similar to the Canon equivalent.

I think the only thing you're getting with the Canon is more FPS and a bit more "reach".
