I think you've got some really cool shots here. It would be interesting to see an outtake along with the series to see if these guys ever smile.

I especially like 1, 5, 8.

I agree. The cut and paste expressions get a bit tiresome throughout the set.

Very nice post processing, I like the look.

Fire needs a bit of work to make more realistic, and the smoke looks like shaving cream.

Overall, very nice with a bit of refinement could be epic.

In truth, these guys don't seem to ever smile. They're pretty serious dudes!

Thanks! Any thoughts on how I can improve the fire? I placed an orange gel over a gridded strobe in an effort to simulate glow of the fire and pointed it toward the chest areas. Maybe add some smoke to the fire?

Nice work overall. The smoke is a problem, as has been said. The levitating wine glass nearly gets lost, in my mind. How about a column of "levitating energy" underneath the glass. It is stands, the glass is just suspended over a drab background, for no apparent reason.

But your work is quite nice, I think. Is the intent that this is a series t be shown as such, or is the client just choosing the best one or two images? If all are going to be shown in a series, the sameness of the men's expressions will be a detriment, possibly.

Thanks. Yeah they'll probably just choose 2 or 3 for promotional purposes. There are a few more that I haven't posted, too. Regarding the wine glass, believe it or not, it was really suspended in mid air for the shot (can't reveal how they did it); and the bottle really pours liquid into it. It's one of their tricks. Though, the liquid was shopped for this image of course.

That may be but it provides none of the floating-glass eye candy that fits your series. I'm not debating the facts, just how compelling the images are.

The problem, for me, is that obvious Photoshopping ruins the magic.

I'm not sure how else you would illustrate magic without Photoshop, at least not for the majority of their tricks, aside from using real backdrops, which I didn't have access to given the time constraints we were under. But in terms of fire, cards, etc, I just did a Google search and see that the far majority of images are Photoshopped similar to mine. So, I guess it's par for the course.
