Just fantastically processed images Phil!!! Wow the contrast you have nailed down pat!! The detail, textures in the stone works..the varying shades of that convey the age of those magnificient structures!

Nice pics. Very timely for me, since not only have I recently moved close to Oxford, but I've switched from Canon to Nikon and have given up my tilt/shift lens. To see some formal architecture from 'normal' lenses reassures me that I've done the right thing.

People have to be careful when straightening perspective - sometimes technically perfect verticals can look like they flare upwards and outwards. An optical illusion. You've managed these really well.

I bought a D810 and a Zeiss 50mm and 18-35G. I got the Zeiss this morning from Germany - what a lovely piece of engineering... I think I might have to sleep with it next to my bed!!!

Thanks Squinty - which 50mm have you gone for? f1.4 or f2? Some of these (#1 and #8) are stitched with the 35mm which works well through PTGui - I wouldn't go wider for a stitch but it gives my old D700 a welcome boost in resolution!

I bought the 1.4, which I know isn't as highly regarded as the f2, but it was very inexpensive, so I can move it on if I'm not happy with it. As far as I can tell, the only downside is confused bokeh, but we'll see... still waiting for my D810.
