Looking for advice on a smallest possible unobtrusive bag to carry just D810 + 35 and 85 f1.8s and may be few filters. I have DomKE 5FXB, but that's too small.

I checked Think Tank Retrospectives and A&As but could not figure out which would be the right size

The retrospective 5 would be good for this. I use mine all the time with a body and 2 lenses.. occasionally i can squeeze in a flash, however i am doing with with a D750 or D7k. The little bigger 810 body would take up a little more room but still fit an attached lens and another just fine. great bags.. I have 3 different think tank models now..

I know you said "smallest bag" but wanted to throw out the thought of The Retrospective 20 as it is only 30 bucks more than the Retrospective 5, and will give you more flexability for future travels.

I have the Retrospective 20 and wanted to just chime in saying it is by far my most favorite bag in my collection of bags...

The Retrospective 5 is perfect for what you listed out though and it gets my vote.

I recently purchased a ThinkTank Turnstyle 20. I really like this sling bag - they also make a 5 and a 10.

Lowepro Event Messenger series... own one and used it for about 2 yrs, great for a short city walk with the D7000 with a few lens or a D3X with 2 lenses on it.

I bought a Crumpler Light Delight Hipster 4000 for my D3 with 55mm f1,2 and 135mm f2,8 lenses.
I found out that it carries a bit more when packed carefully. It is a very small bag though, with one minor problem. If you take it at the grip located on the rear of the bag a smaller lens like a 105mm f2,5 can drop out of the bag. Adding more padding or one more lens solves that problem.

Nowadays I carry this in the crumpler bag and haven't lost a lens yet

The 24mm and 105mm lenses in the rear each go in a coat pocket so the small bag still allows me to bring a camera, 2 lenses (one attached) and a strobe.

I use a Lowepro Inverse 200 AW for this, a combined shoulder/belt bag. It offers extremely good protection and actually rooms my D810 body with one prime lens mounted and space for 3 additional primes plus extra battery, filters, cards etc.:

Since you only need space for two lenses, the Lowepro Inverse 100 AW might be large enough:

I bought the Inverse 200 on impulse several years ago as a result of a small but sudden burst of GAS, and it has been travelling all over Asia with me since, taking all kinds of abuse, which include rolling down long staircases, falling from cars etc. The only damage has been the plastic hooks that connect the shoulder strap to the bag. They were not strong enough and broke, so I've replaced the strap with one that has metal hooks. Another advantage with this bag is the flat top that can be used as an makeshift table when I make notes etc., carrying the bag as a belt pack.

If you really want to be discrete, try using any old bag you have, and adding a padded insert to hold your camera and lens. I do this from time to time.

Something like this:

Then do NOT buy it at a camera store. They make insulated lunch bags and coolers. These range in size from the traditional brown paper lunch bag to a good size picnic cooler. They are very unobtrusive and don't cost a lot.

What I do is buy bare/empty pelican cases and then place the bag in the case and use that as a travel case. Then I get someplace and pull the bag out and leave the empty case in the car or hotel room

I'm a Billingham evangelist, so I vote Hadley Pro, in either black or sage.

Anybag 50 + Hadley Pro

I use the Monochrom Anybag 50 inlay with the Hadley Pro or with the Bundeswehr Kampftasche groß (lots of color variants) the later one looks very cheap and low-key.

The Anybag 50 is just enough for my D810 (+ Arca Plate) + Otus 85 + Hood. Between the Anybag 50 and the Hadley Pro, there is enough room for 1-2 SB-910 and for filters you have still front and back pockets.

I prefer the Hadley Pro a bit more, because it will fit inside a Rimowa Pilot case for extra protection - I use the Rimowa metall case in my car.

Wow! I was busy/traveling for work so did not get a chance to go through responses. Really surprised and thankful to everyone of you for advise and help offered. And I am glad I asked first. Based on the images, I was under impression that Retro 5 is only good for mirror less size, no way I would have imaged it can accommodate D810.

Thanks once again, I ended up ordering Retro 5
